Who this applies to
Anyone who creates an account, writes a review, or flags a review on trusthost.org. By submitting a review or a flag, you agree to follow these guidelines in addition to our terms of service.
Writing a review
- Your review must reflect your own, genuine experience with the host you're reviewing.
- One review per account per host — you can edit it while it's pending, but not submit a second one.
- Reviews need a minimum of 20 characters of real detail — generic one-line praise or complaints don't help other buyers and may be rejected.
- No reviews written in exchange for payment, free hosting, or any other benefit from the host being reviewed. Say so plainly if a host ever offers this — it's against our rules on their side too.
- All reviews are moderated before they go live. We may reject or remove one that looks fraudulent, abusive, off-topic, or unrelated to a real hosting experience.
Flagging a review
If you believe a published review is fake, spam, offensive, or factually wrong, you can flag it directly from the host's page. We ask you to pick a category and explain why — vague or bad-faith reports (flagging a review just because you disagree with the opinion, or flagging in bulk to suppress legitimate criticism) may result in your flagging privileges being restricted.
- You can't flag your own review.
- You can only flag a given review once — you'll see the status and our team's reply under My Reports in your account.
- Our team reviews every flag and either takes action on the review or dismisses the report with a reason.
What happens if you break these rules
Depending on severity, we may remove the content in question, warn the account, or suspend it entirely. Hosting companies found manipulating reviews (theirs or a competitor's) risk removal from the directory or a permanent blacklist — see our editorial principles for how that process works.
